Gettin’ Around

Believe it or not, I survived Arranging 1: Rhythm Section.  I expect I’ll likely always be rhythm- and groove-challenged.  Nevertheless, I learned a lot in this course and feel there’s actually hope for me!

I’ve posted my final project, “Gettin’ Around” (both in this post and in the player). If you get a few minutes, put your feet up and enjoy the music.  This is done completely with samples, so I hope I don’t offend anyone’s ears.  Also, if you happen to know of a group that does this kind of music, please let me know.  I’d love to get it recorded live.

I’m taking the summer term off and will take my next course in September. There’s golf to be played and a granddaughter to hang out with, after all!

Hey Barb, great job. This is some more of my kind of music. I see blue sky, blue-green sea, cold drink, hot sun, and how could I forget…a hot guy attending to my every need. ahhh….I can dream can’t I! I love it!

NICE cool sounding virtual cuban band. The melody line is very reminiscent of a song i heard a long time ago but just can’t name it now. The rhythm still needs some rhythm because for me it sounded rather stiff in the opening until about the mid section until the virtual band players caught on to the melody and the cuban beat. Horn part very realistic especially in the end when it sounded as if the player toke a deep breath to finish the last note. Horns are always tough to get right in virtual instruments which in my attempts seem to be only passable because as a keyboard player I am keyboarding for example a trumpet player.

I don’t know why but the play now and play in popup buttons did not workfor me in Safari and the download button creates a new web page with a typical like quick time player.

And for sure, take a well deserved break and have a great summer.

Thank you for your feedback, as well as for the information about the play issues in Safari. I’ll ask my web-designer-guru son to check it out for me.

P.S. What would you suggest for the rhythm at the beginning?

    Hi Barb,
Had me dancing around the office with a rose in my mouth looking for a partner.

Yes, it definitely set my toes to tapping too! It was a big job, but in your typical fashion, you did it well.

I can see/hear ;-) that you have been very busy!

Wow!! very happy music-it reminds me of you when you’re bragging on your grandbaby. I think you need to complete it with a video featuring your granddaughter as she becomes more mobile and daring

Dr. Don … Funny you should mention pairing the song with video footage of Aliah, since that’s exactly what I intend to do with it! (Hence the name for the song.)

    Thanks for listening.

Thanks for listening, Julie! (And for your kind words.) I appreciate both.

W – Got that player issue fixed for Gettin’ Around. (The problem was having an apostrophe in the file name.) Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Hi, Judith! Glad you liked this tune. I posted a couple more clips tonight. Maybe one of them will make your brain happy again. :)
